Katarzyna Włodarczyk, M.Sc. Eng. - graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Lodz University of Technology in 2008 (specialization Surface Engineering). During the study she was member of the student scientific circle of Materials Engineering of at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Lodz University of Technology. The last semester she studied in Lyon (France) at the University Claude Bernard - Lyon 1, where she worked on her Diploma Thesis entitled "Silver micro-pattering onto polymer surfaces using micro-contact printing and electroless deposition".
Currently Katarzyna Włodarczyk is a student of the 3rd level (Doctoral) study at the Mechanical Faculty of the Lodz University of Technology under supervision of Prof. Bogdan Wendler. She`s working on low friction, nanocomposite coatings type MeC/a-C, consisting of nanocrystallites of transition metal carbides embedded in amorphous carbon matrix. Her Doctoral Thesis is related to the objectives of the project KomCerMet entitled "Composites and Nanocomposites for Aviation and Car Industry" financed in the frame of the European Regional Development Fund of the 7th EU Framework Programme and steered by Prof. B. Wendler. Together with other members of a team from the Coatings' Engineering Division at the Institute of Materials Engineering, she was awarded a Gold Medal during The 56th Brussels-EUREKA Innovation Fair in Brussels, Belgium, in November 2008 and a Diploma of Honour by the Rector of the Lodz University of Technology in March 2009.
